I feel like The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion was supposed to be more like this, but where that one fell flat for me, this one absolutely shined. I related to Maggie Smith so much; not in the divorce aspect (happily married over here! lol), but as a woman, a mother, and someone trying to live in her body instead of in her head. I listened to the audiobook, narrated by the author herself, which made it feel even more personal, like she was speaking directly to me. It’s raw and honest about pain, but at the same time, it offers so much hope. Honestly, I’m putting this in my self-help shelf because it’s the kind of book that left me feeling understood, inspired, and a little more optimistic about whatever comes next. I’ll definitely be revisiting this one.
