A gay professor at a Southern, small-town conservative college must choose between his career and a chance at true love in this steamy romance.

But when an old college crush shows up on campus—looking more gorgeous than ever—Paul's long-suppressed urges are just too big for one little closet to hold . . .

Brandon Mercer has come a long way since his freshman year fumblings with Paul. Now he's confident, accomplished, proudly out—and the sexiest IT consultant Paul's ever seen. But when Paul's longtime crush turns into a full-time romance, he receives an anonymous email threatening to expose their secret to the world. If Paul stays with Brandon, his teaching career is over. Yet if he caves under pressure, he risks losing the one true love he's been waiting for . . .

Well that was bad! Brandon treats Paul really terribly, with constant pass-ag behavior up to <spoiler>attempted sexual assault</spoiler>, and the narrative gets away with not addressing it because Paul's ex Christopher is worse (to a truly cartoonish degree, not that anyone in this talks like a real person). And it being locked in Paul's POV means that there's absolutely no indication that Brandon realizes what he did (since <spoiler>PAUL APOLOGIZES FOR BEING ATTACKED and BRANDON LETS HIM</spoiler> I'm guessing he doesn't tho and still thinks Paul was in the wrong.) The amount of kind of mean jabs about 'flamboyant' gays were also getting extremely old around the seventh time it happens, especially since non appear in the book and only one is mentioned. Finally there is a huge lack of cultural Christianity by which I mean there are reams of insipid pop culture references that give nothing in terms of character development but no mentions of christian pop culture from a couple of fundiegelical raised guys??? Like do some research??? One of the guys is named after an apostle (THE apostle who every homophobe quotes even) and we're not even going to kink on that???
