🩷 brother's best friend 🩷 girl next door 🩷 forced proximity 🩷 second chance 🩷 slow burn/ only one bed After all the hype, this was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and I LOVED the first half of this- I'm a sucker for all the tropes!! The banter was on par with Emily Henry and the tension and slow burn were perfect... pretty much right up until they get together. and then i felt it turned into a lot of telling rather than showing, which fell flat (and eventually apart) for me. For a magical realism book, this was just missing the magic for me, and I can suspend belief witht the best of them, but "it's not supposed to make sense, really. It doesn't have to" feels like a lazy cop out. I'd definitely be interested in rereading the final copy to see if any of the missing magic is there for me ✨ Thanks to Avon for a copy of this eARC
