Locke is a seasoned member of the Seattle Serpents hockey team. While at a party at the team captain's home, his step-sister, Vanessa, shows up unexpectedly in need of somewhere to stay. Locke is instantly surprised and confused to see the woman whom he can't seem to forget after a one-night stand. While they both know that their relationship is off-limits, they agree to be friends. And Locke sees that Vanessa needs somewhere to live, so he offers for her to stay with him. While they are roommates, they quickly grow close and realize they can't fight their feelings anymore. I really enjoyed this story! I loved the depth of feelings and thought that Vanessa experienced while dealing with the aftermath of her divorce and finding herself again. I loved that Locke could see through her masks and just knew what she needed at any given time. I also felt that Locke's feelings on growing older and keeping up with the new talent within the hockey league were so valid. He knows what he's doing and how to do it, but sometimes it's more than that. Received an ARC and give my honest review
