The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches
“This is one of my coziest reads of the last year, and I find myself thinking about its enchanted setting all the time.”-Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author
USA TODAY BESTSELLER • A warm and uplifting novel about an isolated witch whose opportunity to embrace a quirky new family—and a new love—changes the course of her life.
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules...with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos "pretending" to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.
But someone does. An unexpected message arrives, begging her to travel to the remote and mysterious Nowhere House to teach three young witches how to control their magic. It breaks all of the rules, but Mika goes anyway, and is immediately tangled up in the lives and secrets of not only her three charges, but also an absent archaeologist, a retired actor, two long-suffering caretakers, and…Jamie. The handsome and prickly librarian of Nowhere House would do anything to protect the children, and as far as he’s concerned, a stranger like Mika is a threat. An irritatingly appealing threat.
As Mika begins to find her place at Nowhere House, the thought of belonging somewhere begins to feel like a real possibility. But magic isn't the only danger in the world, and when peril comes knocking at their door, Mika will need to decide whether to risk everything to protect a found family she didn’t know she was looking for....

So wholesome, so cute! I absolutely fell in love with this book. The characters were lovable, the relationships felt so warm and genuine, and the entire story had this soft, enchanting vibe that just made me happy. It’s the kind of book that feels like a warm cup of tea on a rainy day - pure comfort from start to finish.

"It’s a leap of faith to love people and let yourself be loved. It’s closing your eyes, stepping off a ledge into nothing, and trusting that you’ll fly rather than fall." (Chapter 26) It has been a long time since I read something light and airy and fluffy... And may be a touch steamy. But this did it for me. I knew it would be an easy read considering I only started reading late at night of Saturday and was already at the 11th chapter at 1pm of Sunday. But I totally didn't expect that I would be hooked by the love. It wasn't event the romance between Jamie and Mika that got me hook line and sinker. It was the magic, the gold dust, and love of everyone at Nowhere House. And when I read that quote above, the tears just started leaking and didn't stop for a few minutes. It resonated with me. The whole idea of aloneness and belonging. It's something I personally struggle with, but reading this gave me a sense of solidarity. It is cutesy and cozy and every bit magical.

This one was not quite for me. It's a sweet, cozy fantasy with low stakes and a rushed romance. Jamie, the grumpy librarian, was the highlight, but overall I found myself wanting more depth and emotion. A cute, easy read. Perfect for a quiet weekend or beach day, just not what I expected. I could probably rate this 2 stars, but I can see why people liked it and I believe it deserves the 3 stars.
