I went in expecting a beautiful retelling and ended up laughing out loud throughout so much of this. The humor is sharp, playful, and at times hilariously absurd. This retelling does the original so much justice. It keeps the heart of the story while giving it a fresh spin. I saw a review claiming this book had nothing to do with romance or love, and I couldn’t disagree more. This isn't about the easy, dreamy kind of love but the kind that requires choice. The kind where you keep choosing someone again and again, even when things are difficult and messy. Overall, this was funny, heartfelt, and enchanting. Definitely recommend if you enjoy no/low spice tales of love that will keep you laughing until the end!
