Is this a book I would ever consider reading again? No. I don't know if I can. It's more than a book, I don't even think I really have the words to do it justice... It focuses on two sisters and their stories of rebellion and resilience in a time of gut-wrenching pain and sadness. I am not a huge fan of war books, but I do find reading about and continuing to educate myself about the holocaust, absolutely devastating and fascinating. There are millions of stories around this time and even though the overall story of war, disease, hunger, and so much more unimaginable things have taken part, I find each story to be unique and different and this is one of those. Yes I do realize it is fiction, but it is inspired so very heavily on true people and true events and it felt more real than any other fiction I have read. One thousand percent recommend to anyone who loves to read, and is seeking something that would have you soul searching and wondering what would you do to save the ones you love, or even just survive.
