The Emperor of Evening Stars
Forged in darkness and destined for greatness, The Emperor of Evening Stars reveals the untold origins of the fae king every romantasy reader is obsessed with.
Long before he became the infamous Bargainer or the King of Night, Desmond Flynn was a boy clinging to hope, marked for obscurity, and forced to hide his magic and his pain. When everything he loves is destroyed, Des embarks on a relentless quest for revenge, journeying through haunted fae realms and treacherous bargains that test the very core of his soul. This atmospheric novella immerses readers in a world of secrets, heartbreak, and immortal love, offering a powerful, deeply emotional glimpse into how a broken boy becomes a legend.
With lush worldbuilding and a raw, anti-hero perspective, Laura Thalassa delivers an essential companion story in the Bargainer series. Desmond Flynn is one of the essential book boyfriends for romantasy readers and readers praise this novella for its intensity, heart, and addictive magic.

I loved this novella of Desmond’s POV. I think I loved it more than the first two books. Nathaniel Priestley’s voice and Laura’s writing did not disappoint.

This is a shorter book in the series, giving a glimpse into the MMC past and his perspective of falling for the MFC. I loved the spice and little tie backs and the “hey remember this happened, well heres my side of the story” over the course of years. It was well done and I enjoyed it.
