While Stevie is working at a bar, she is asked to take a drink to the singer, Garrick, that is playing that night. They have an instant connection, but Stevie doesn't let it show. When Garrick asks her out, she declines, but he doesn't give up. He doesn't push her, but is persistent. After a while of them hanging out as friends, they slowly become more even though Stevie is still hesitant to label them. When she finally agrees to be boyfriend/girlfriend, they start to have some issues seeing eye to eye about their relationship. Stevie feels that Garrick is moving too fast and wants to maintain her independence. Garrick is head over heels in love with Stevie and doesn't want to hide any of his feelings. After an argument, they are in an accident that leaves Stevie devastated. This was the first part of the duet and ended on a cliffhanger. While I really enjoyed this story and look forward to the conclusion of the duet, I felt like Stevie was getting a lot out of the relationship with Garrick and not putting as much in. I get that she wants her independence and doesn't want to rely on Garrick for anything, but she just seemed to be somewhat ungrateful in some situations. Other than that aspect of the story, I loved it. When they were good, they were sooooo good.
