I kinda hate myself for reading this when it just released!! It's the start of an 8 part series and book 2 isn't even out! How am I supposed to wait for answers to that cliffhanger?!?! Kyra is such a badass. With everything she's survived and everything still being thrown at her, watching her get thrust into a magical Academy without prior knowledge should've been overwhelming, yet she adapts quickly with her sheer determination. Her connection with Angie, who quickly becomes the ride-or-die bestie everyone deserves, helps to ground her and the hotties she accumulates along the way add so much depth to the story. The Academy is this vibrant hub where fae, elves, vampires, shifters and more all come together to create this dense culture tangled with rivalries, politics, and secrets galore. I loved how their magic, culture, and house dynamics all collide, especially with Kyra bringing in 'mortal world' elements and slang. Oh and there are dragons, which instantly makes this better! The world building is rich, the magic systems are intriguing, and the little breadcrumbs kept me hooked from beginning to end. Seriously I hated having to put this down and I would've binged this if I could have! Overall this is perfect for anyone who loves rich fantasy worlds, magical academies, morally grey characters, and little bread crumbs scattered throughout the plot. I highly recommend this!
