I thought the drag and performance aspects, and the difference in tone between Joe and Misty were very good and it's clear the writer was really coming from a place of experience. But mystery wise it was a mess (partially this is just me not really being able to enjoy books any more where somebody runs about poking for evidence in extremely inadmissible-in-court ways and lucks into a dramatic confession). The writing was also very simplistic considering it's a book for adults. Still of course it's a first book and the setting is interesting so l I will likely give the next book a try to see if there's improvement.
