A stunning novel of romance and redemption set in the Spunes, OR world, filled with heartbreak and hope from "master of emotion" (Rachel Lynn Solomon) USA Today bestselling author Tarah DeWitt.

Bea always wanted to be a mom. But she never expected she’d have to lose her best friend to do it. Armed with nothing but her best friend’s eggs and a bucket list to complete, Bea’s world is a sea of changes.

When she needs a place to stay, her longtime friend Silas steps in to help. A firefighter grappling with the aftermath of an accident, Silas has his own challenges to work through that have left him cautious and vulnerable.

At first, they expect nothing. But as these two former sunshines knit together in a love that has been unfulfilled until now, a new beginning comes out of the ashes of the past—one that will lead to a love that can withstand all the slings and arrows, joys and triumphs, that life can throw.

ALL THE STARS for Silas and Bea but having your dead best friend's kid with her childhood crush is wild. If you can just accept it's fine because Bea is fine with it, you'll be fine. Merrit still (to me) comes across as a bad friend not just for foisting her eggs on Bea but ever since the first time they met: She knocked me flat on my back with a tetherball to the gut, then kneeling over my wheezing body, she cried, “I’m sorry! It wasn’t an accident. I wanted to beat you and got pissed off! I’m still sorry, though!” Bea is a better person than I am because wtf was that! Then the way Merrit overreacts to Bea and Silas dancing istg I don't care that they were in highschool- Bea should not have to bend over backwards and deny parts of who she is just to make sure Merrit isn't upset that a boy doesn't like her back. I wish she'd had a chance to just be happy for Silas and Bea, rather than "getting over him" by making a move and being politely shut down. I just can't imagine Merrit not making it about her if she were still alive and that's why I had a hard time being sad when I know I should have been! Being back in Spunes and seeing all the Byrds together is really what made this book so special!! Thanks so much to St. Martin's Press for this eARC

Okay I have alot of feelings about this book. I absolutely loved it because I fell in love with Spunes and all of these characters now hold such a special place in my heart. Every single star in the sky for Silas in particular because I adore him so much and he so deserved his long time coming happy ending. I really did love Silas and Bea’s relationship, I am a friends to lovers girl and their story was just so sweet and touching. However I did not like anything to do with Merritt because honestly she was a garbage friend basically from the very first day she met Bea. All we see in every single flashback is Bea being the best friend to Merritt and always dropping everything to be there for her in every way possible but there wasn’t one instance (even in the times where she wasn’t sick) that Merritt was ever there for Bea or was a good friend to her. I would have had less of a problem with this if we acknowledged that Merritt was a shitty friend and if it dealt with the grief of losing an imperfect person, but that never happens. Not to mention gifting your friend YOUR frozen eggs (that are about to expire) without ever having a single conversation about it is one of the most fucked up things I have ever come across!? I would bring someone back to life just to kill them again if they did that to me. Anyways other than Merritt who is the devil and gave me Danika flashbacks I loved everyone else and the epilogue did make me cry, I don’t want to leave Spunes 😭😭 ~~ Review to come once it’s sunk in but 😭😭 I love all of the Byrds so much and I’m so sad to be leaving Spunes.
