A good story, and I really liked Isabella. Nicco & her dated in college for a little over a year, he broke up with her to protect her from his dad. He lied and said he was going to meet some woman for an arranged marriage in Italy to make her believe he was truly not in love with her, when, of course, he was. When he did this, it broke her heart because she was deeply in love with him, and there were no signs that anything was wrong in their relationship. Nicco returns from Italy 3 years later with a plan to carry out a hostile takeover of his father's business. He tries to explain why he had to lie to her and leave. She is having none of it. Weirdly, his dad wants him to try to woo her into a marriage, to gain access to the port her family controls. This made no sense to me that the father could actually think that would work since he is responsible for her parents' deaths (he also has no clue about their previous relationship). Also, since her brothers want his father's business destroyed, they would never give them port access, nor permit the marriage. The father was being totally delusional to think that the plan would ever work. Also, her brothers want Nicco's father's business destroyed and won't give them port access, no matter what. Nicco is persistent in his pursuit to win Isabella back; she does resist for a while (as she should). It was a bit cringe at times, but I enjoyed their story. I can’t promise you that me and Isabella will never get into arguments, but I can assure you, I will never hurt her the way I did three years ago. No matter what happens between she and I, at the end of the day, I will always love her and treat her the way she deserves to be treated—like the greatest damn treasure in life.”
