Eleanor & Park

#1 New York Times Best Seller!

"Eleanor & Park reminded me not just what it's like to be young and in love with a girl, but also what it's like to be young and in love with a book."-John Green, The New York Times Book Review

Bono met his wife in high school, Park says.

So did Jerry Lee Lewis, Eleanor answers.

I'm not kidding, he says.

You should be, she says, we're 16.

What about Romeo and Juliet?

Shallow, confused, then dead.

I love you, Park says.

Wherefore art thou, Eleanor answers.

I'm not kidding, he says.

You should be.

Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits-smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you'll remember your own first love-and just how hard it pulled you under.

This follows Eleanor and Park. They are two kids in high school who are just kind of going through it without really experiencing it. I don't really know what to say other than I absolutely loved this story. It had all the feels and emotions. I cried so much over various scenes and can't even begin to express how much I loved how much Park really cared about Eleanor. He didn't even understand his feelings, but it was so clear that he loved her. And while she didn't seem to really understand how to be loved or how to love in return, she knew that he would do so much for her, and she just wanted to protect him. I feel like this was so well written and expressed the struggles of being a high schooler (even if it was almost 15 years before my time).
