Echoes of Ember and Effigy

Vana Elaire

4.17

A god without divinity. A mortal boy with the power to awaken him. Together, they will change the fate of their world.

Born into the Celestial Zodiac Courts, the Fool was destined for greatness. But when the sacred Shade Trials expose his lack of divine power, he becomes an outcast-shamed by the gods, abandoned by his family. Desperate for a place to belong, he flees to the mortal realm.

There, he meets Varyn, a boy whose presence stirs something long dormant within him. Together, they set off on a journey to uncover ancient secrets and challenge the gods who rule their world. But their bond awakens forces beyond their control, and as the lines between love and destiny blur, they must face a choice that could destroy the realm-or save it.

Echoes of Ember and Effigy is a sweeping fantasy debut retelling of the Fool's Journey rooted in Tarot lore, where love, friendship, and self-discovery are tested against a backdrop of divine intrigue and dangerous prophecies.

This book gets ALL the stars!! I greatly enjoyed reading this book, at first I was really enjoying the story of childhood friendship, and as the story progressed, with all the emotions and complications, I fell in love with Ambroz and Varyn, as well as little Celine! I was reminded a lot of The Song of Achilles while I read this, and while the stories aren’t exactly the same, I loved every second of it just as I did with the other book. The ending had me absolutely bawling so prepare for all the emotions and be glad that you don’t have shades while you read this story!
