He’ll save her from the nightmare in her past. Luke Haven has an adrenaline problem. As in, he can’t get enough. His squeaky-clean, nice-guy reputation in his small town isn’t a lie. But it’s not the whole truth, either. Although his real problem? He’s not even sure what he’s searching for.

When Melanie decides to move home after her divorce, she is in need of a short-term job until her voice acting gig starts. Enter Luke Haven. The secretary for his shop is out on maternity leave and he needs help, so he's encouraged to offer the job to Melanie. She agrees, and while they have a weird hate relationship due to a messy breakup in high school, they make things work. Working together, their feelings slowly start to flow back in, and they realize that they never hated each other in the first place. I absolutely loved this story. There was an interesting mystery aspect that I always enjoy in Claire's books. It always makes it just a little harder to put down when you're trying to figure out what is going on behind the scenes. I loved Melanie's character and how, regardless of how many times she's told she's too much, she remains herself. And the fact that Luke loves her just the way she is, no filter and all.
