4.5 stars From the first page, this book gripped me. I'm certain I experienced every emotion during this book. Sadness, heartbreak, frustration, rage, grief, contentedness, relief and so much more. The journey Walker takes us on is beautiful because it is so real, so earnest and bare. I believe it is one of those books everyone should read at least once in their life. The feeling of sisterhood, family and self worth Walker possesses in Celie's written word is breathtaking and left me feeling like I was experiencing her evolution with her. Overall this was an incredible book. It is a difficult read due to some of the topics discussed but I do believe it's such an important story to read and share with others.
