The book starts out with a really cool premise, but where it eventually goes doesn’t match the tone it begins with. There are way too many characters, so instead of actual development, we just get quick, shallow backstories. I only really cared for Mack and Ava, the rest (even the main antagonists) barely registered for me. That includes the amusement park lore. I just didn't care. The constant third-person POV shifts were too abrupt and disorienting. Maybe it should have just been Mack's POV, or even a dual POV. Mack & Ava, or Mack & Linda. idk The pacing was sooo slow, the atmosphere was weak, and to top it off, the book just… stops. I had to reread the last bit because I thought I missed something. But no, it's just a crappy ending. With fewer POVs, stronger character development, and an actual ending, this could’ve been solid. Instead, it was just annoying. If it had been much longer, I probably wouldn’t have finished it.
