We may only be in the second month of 2025, but I have a feeling this will be my favorite read of the year. It isn't often that a book pulls me in so completely and hits me in the feels the way this one did. The writing is stunning, and the story has this warm, classic adventure feel - like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. I absolutely loved every single character. Towles has a way of pulling you into a time and place so vividly that nearly 17 hours fly by without you even noticing. And the ending? I did not see it coming. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrators did an incredible job, making the story even more immersive. I enjoyed it so much that I went ahead and bought the physical copy on Thriftbooks for my collection. Highly recommend.
