Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ This one was solid, but definitely felt more like a bridge between books than a full story on its own. It picks up immediately after book 1, but the setting felt kind of stuck in one place, and that slowed the pacing for me. The characters are still the heart of the series, and I love them deeply. Rebecca F. Kenney really knows how to write emotionally layered characters you can root for. That said, the weird not-quite love triangle? Not my favorite. The writing is still strong, and the emotional arcs all make sense. Everything ties together nicely by the end, even if this installment didn’t hit quite as hard for me as book one did. That ending, though? 👀 It definitely left me needing to know what happens next.
