Brutal
Nothing bad happens at summer camp.
That’s what my fellow camp counselors have convinced me of when the nights around the lake get a little eerie.
But when the kids all go home and the counselors throw a party on our last night at Camp Clearwater, things change. None of us could have suspected that there was a stranger watching us or that our machete-wielding visitor doesn’t seem to like that we’re here. But when I'm attacked in the woods, he unexpectedly comes to my rescue in the most ruthless way.
Wren is terrifying, unpredictable, and possessive in a way that terrifies me. I should go to the police and stay away from him at all costs. Instead, I find myself letting him in every time he comes to play.
Can a brutal butcher ever really fall for me, or am I going to become his next victim?

Not as good as the first book in this series. Wren fell a little flat for me. I was expecting more personality from him based on his scenes in the first book. Hazel was likable enough, though her reactions at times weren't particularly believable. Also, the ending was odd in how that guy showed up just when he was needed. “You’re taking this stalker thing way too seriously.” “It’s a bit of a hobby of mine,” “I want you to run as hard as you can until you collapse in the dirt again. Then I want to hunt you down and ruin you so completely that you’ll never be able to stand being without me. I’ll find all the ways to make you mine that there could ever be, and invent a few of my own.”

Hazel worked at a summer camp and when all the kids leave, the counselors decide to throw a party before leaving themselves. Hazel isn't really interested in the party but she reluctantly goes for her friend. She stays for a little while and when she leaves with Brett, he starts to get a little handsy. Then, all of a sudden he is unalived right in front of her and she becomes terrified that she will be next. Wren is a serial unaliver and has become obsessed with Hazel. So when he finds her in the woods with Brett he decides to steps in. But he also wants to play with Hazle a bit, so he chases her down. I enjoyed this story. I love all the connections to famous horror movies. I also loved all the cameos from Wren's friend group. I am absolutely looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
