Barbarian's Touch
When I wake up on the ice planet, I'm scared of everything: this place is cold, silent, and the locals look more like blue devils than aliens. To make matters worse, one of the strangers decides I'm going to be his girlfriend and kidnaps me away from my sister. I'm completely and utterly alone. What's a girl to do?
Well, this girl escapes.
Of course, that means I go from frying pan into the fire, and my situation gets even more dangerous. Just when I have no hope left, a new hero appears. Sure, he's blue, horned, and has a tail. He's also fierce, protective, makes me purr . . . and thinks I'm perfect.
But is what we have real or just a mating instinct?
Contains mature themes.

4.25 ⭐ Rokan lila As all the MMCs before him, Rokan is fantastic. He is sweet, patient, jealous, protective & caring. He thinks Lila is the greatest prize he could ever have and thinks she is perfect just the way she is. It matters not in the least to him that she can't hear; all he wants is to learn sign language so he can communicate with her better. Lila struggles far too long with the idea that it is only the khui that makes her have feelings for Rokan. Since there is nothing to be done about it she should have accepted it for what it was and get to know Rokan. She couldn't ask for a better mate after all. She regrets not listening to him about his gift (knowing) and being stubborn and demanding to go out; he is seriously injured trying to protect her, and she can't move him to safety. When he wakes, all he cares about if she is okay and tells her to leave him there (to die). Eventually, she accepts him as her mate, and they are blissfully happy together. It is like a knife in the gut to remember that she does not know what resonance means. She does not grasp how important it is, how life-changing. How my world has changed to focus entirely upon her. It is such an important part of my people and our lives that I cannot comprehend that she does not know of it. I would not change a thing about her, because she is mine and she is perfect. he looks at me like I’m the world to him. I must anticipate her every need. My priority is her. You are perfect. I would change nothing about you. And I am glad that you are mine. I have waited many days to say that to you. He stops for a moment, thinking, and then continues. I want to say it again. You are perfect. He’s so thoughtful, and wonderful, and he’s never made me feel like I’m less because I can’t hear him. He acts like it’s been his problem that he can’t hear me, and not the other way around. Know that you have my heart, he signs to me. I should have listened. He knew. Somehow, he knew, and he pushed me out of the way before anything bad would happen. Just like with the birds I could care less if it’s the khui making me have feelings for him or if it’s the real deal. All I know is that I love him and he’s in serious danger right now. I love you, I sign, but his eyes are closed; he won’t see it. I love you and I’m going to fix this, I promise. “Then, I’m going to be your mate,” I whisper. I lean in and kiss his mouth, swiping at my icy tears. He’s falling asleep again, and I don’t know what to do. I can’t leave him here alone and defenseless. I’m not going to give up, though. “I’m not leaving you,” I whisper, fitting my body against his side. “You’re mine and I’m staying here until we can walk out together.” But I’m your mate. I should understand. You’ve always done your best to understand me. I’m a jerk and I should have tried harder. My mate? Fierce joy surges through me. I cup her face and stroke the tears from her cheeks, pressing a kiss to her soft mouth before signing again. You accept you are my mate? I nearly lost you in the avalanche. It made me realize that I don’t care what makes me feel this way. I just love you and want to be with you. Do you still love me? You always have my heart. Her teary smile is beautiful. You have mine, too. She moves to my side and puts her hands on me, stroking my chest. “I love it, because I am here with you. You are all I need.” A groan escapes me, because seeing her smile fills me with lightness. She is my happiness. My heart, I sign to her. You are my heart. I know, she signs back, and I’m keeping it.
