Sleet Sugar

S.J. Tilly

4.70

My friends have convinced me: no more hockey players.

With a dad who is the Head Coach for the Minnesota Sleet, it seemed like an easy decision. My friends have also convinced me that the best way to boost my fragile self-esteem is through a one-night stand.

A dating app. A hotel bar. A sexy-as-hell man who's sweet, and funny...and did I mention sexy-as-hell?

I fortified my courage and invited myself up to his room. Assumptions. There's a rule about them. I assumed he was passing through town. I assumed he was a businessman, or maybe an investor, or accountant, or literally anything other than a professional hockey player. I assumed I'd never see him again.

I assumed wrong.

Like the title, this was a sweet hockey romance. I enjoyed the humor and cuteness of the story. Izzy is humorously awkward and a bit insecure about her weight. I love her interactions with her group of gfs, especially Meagan. Omg, Zach is just so charmingly sweet, adorable, possessive, protective, persistent, determined, hot & sexy. I absolutely loved the scene at the haunted attraction he planned. The best was when he kept showing up and crashing her dates; it was obvious someone was feeding him all the info on them. The emails they sent to each other were cute, but a bit cheesy. One of the funniest things was how Izzy kept trying to avoid and run from him after their "date." Zach was having none of that after seeing her the next day, which he was ecstatic about (since he had no way to contact her); however, she was shocked and a bit disconcerted. I liked this book better than the first. I just found it a light, fluffy, funny & sweet romance. It had me smiling while reading. I fairly melted when, after she was attacked, he felt beyond guilty because he felt he failed to protect her. Which he did protect, and as she and her father pointed out, you can't keep bad things from happening; it's what you do about it that counts. *"I know I am right for her and I know she is right for me, I am certain, and because of that, I won't stop pursuing her. I won't stop crashing her dates. I'm not sure what I do if someone actually looks right for her, who am I kidding, I know exactly what I'll do, I'll keep doing the same thing I've been doing because there's no one better for her than me, and that's not me pretending I'm perfect. I'm a bastard half the time and full of anger more often than that, but I know she is good for my soul, and I know no one will ever care about her more than I can. I'm the best man for her because I'll always put her first. I want to make her smile. I want to make her happy. I want her to pant my name each and every night.* I'll do whatever I can to make you happy for as long as you'll have me
