Ice Planet Barbarians #10

Barbarian's Hope

Ruby Dixon

4.62

Seasons ago, I resonated to the quietest of tribesmates, a male content to love me from afar while I was the center of attention. We could have been happy. Despite our differences, I loved him and he loved me.

But then a terrible thing happened . . . and my world was never the same again.

Now resonance is giving us a second chance, but . . . I'm afraid. What if what I have with my mate is too broken to be fixed? What if there's no hope left for us at all?

From the previous books, I found Asha unlikable. However, I grew to like her in this story; you saw how deeply depressed and devastated she was over the loss of her premature baby. Hemalo did not handle the loss well either, and didn't know how to help Asha through her grieving. Leaving her was not a wise decision, considering that he still loved her. He was also hurting and didn't know leaving her would wound her so deeply (even though she acted more miserable in his presence, and actively sought out other men to sleep with). It was nice to see them open up to each other and express their thoughts and feelings. It was good to see Asha become part of the tribe again since the tragedy; she kept herself apart from everyone. I loved seeing the tribe plan and participate in the holiday celebration days. Beck and Claire also had some friendship building moments in the book that were nice.
