I didn't feel invested in the characters, and the story dragged on. Emerald was pretty one-dimensional. Cohen's plan to marry her mother seemed way too convoluted for someone with the power and influence he claimed to possess. This book was a disappointment, the summary gave a lot of promise, and it was never delivered.
