I have a nice life—living in my hometown and owning the coffee shop I’ve worked at since I was 16. It’s comfortable on paper, but I’m tired of doing everything by myself. Tired of being in charge of every decision in my life. I want someone to lean on, someone to spend time with, sit...

This was a cute, sweet, fun, humorous, & cheesy romance. I really liked both Axel & Maddie. Axel was unnecessarily overprotective. She increasingly called him daddy throughout the story, which is a turnoff for me. How upset Axel gets when she tells him of her parents' death at 18 and comforts her is endearing. Maddie craved to have someone in her life so she would no longer be alone and have someone to love & help take care of her (even though she didn't need them to, she liked the feeling of it). When Axel hugged his son, that was such an awwww moment. I enjoyed this book more than the 1st in the series. 2nd read through - I gave this 3.5⭐due to the spicy scenes being a bit cringe for me; daddy kink isn't my thing. Though I still really like the story and the MCs. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to flip every table in this stupid place, or if I wanted to pull her into my lap, wrap my arms around her, and tell her she’d never be alone again. My free hand clenches into a fist. Anger at her situation and my helplessness swirling inside me. I want to tell her that I’ll go to the wedding with her. That I’ll drive her anywhere she needs to go. But I’m all fucking wrong for her. My mouth starts to open, but what am I supposed to say? Is there someone I need to dismember and bury in the woods for disagreeing with you? God help me, I’m trying to comfort the girl, not scare her. She’s smart, witty, a little shy, the flawless mixture of innocent and sexy. And my inner neanderthal likes the sadness in her eyes. It’s fucked up, I’m well aware of that, but I like feeling needed. And I haven’t felt emotionally needed in a long, long time. “It means that I’m a better man when I’m with you. That I’m happier. And I don’t want to waste another minute either.” He reaches his own hand out, pressing it over my heart. “Life is too short to wait another minute to make you mine. In every way possible.”
