3.5 ⭐ Well, this went a bit differently than I thought it would. I am not sure how I feel about this book. Overall, it was an interesting story, and it had a couple of unexpected turns. Serephina had a lot of issues, and her husband, Tim, was horrible towards her. They had abusive childhoods and bonded over that when they were young. Tim berates, belittles, isolates, and hates her, yet for some unknown reason, also can't let her go, also lets not forget almost chokes her to death. Shane was one crazy, unhinged, obsessed mfer. I wish we learned more about Shane's history/background. Serephina's refusal to see how badly her husband treated her and her making up excuses for him for the majority of the book did get annoying. The ending was abrupt, but I can see what the author was going for with that approach. The narrators did a great job on the audiobook.
