This had such a promising premise, but unfortunately it didn’t deliver for me. The dual POVs - one from a fox spirit, the other from an aging investigator - sounded great in theory, but ended up feeling repetitive and a bit flat. The pacing was very slow, which I don’t always mind, but in this case the plot never really picked up. The setting and cultural backdrop were beautifully done, and there’s a quiet, lyrical quality to the writing... but I kept waiting for something more to happen, and it just didn’t.
