I devoured the first book, it felt fresh and invigorating. So when I was given access to read the second book, it's conclusion, I was so excited. However, my excitement fell 30% in. I appreciated the tones of the book, the hardships and the turmoil put upon by these characters after getting to know them in book one, but something fell flat. I also felt this book lost itself to repetition. Several times we are reading the same conversation or experiencing the same heartache with nothing really to show for it or feel any satisfaction once they have concluded. I got ..bored, asking myself "haven't we heard this all before?" I wanted to love this book so much because of my love for the first but several something's missed the mark. I couldn't even feel invested in the romance because of the issues mentioned above. I am grateful I was able to read it. I'm glad I was able to see the story finished but I cannot say I'll be reaching for the second book as I would for the first.
