This is my second book by Yume Kitasei, and I’m really glad I took the leap again. This story blends science fiction, body horror, climate horror, and a thread of thriller so seamlessly that it kept me thinking about it when I wasn't reading. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the sisters. They’re so different from each other in personality and perspective but that is what makes it feel more real. Watching them go through everything while still showing up for each other added a strong emotional aspect to all the tension and unease. The horror element, especially the body horror, were unsettling in the best way and the climate aspects made everything feel just a little too close to home. Overall, this was a unique and gripping read that balanced family, horror, and high-stakes tension really well. Definitely recommend.
