This is a fallen angel romance with fated mates and a grumpy x sunshine dynamic that worked well for me. I really enjoyed that this showed a side of seraphs not being angels in the way humans think them to be but instead portrayed as another culture of beings. The brooding seraph, Gabriel, quickly succumbed to the sunshine personality of Eve and the tension created by the expectations from her cult of a church made this even more compelling. Eve's determination to be free and carve out her own path away from the cult made it easy to root for her despite her original intentions to spy on the Seraph. The gothic undertones and dark manor were a nice touch to go the energy Gabriel brought to the story. Overall I found this to be a good start to the series and I'm definitely going to continue reading on. Thanks to TheNerdFam and the author for an eARC!
