The Percy Jackson books and universe will always be a comfort read to me. I only just learned of this short story’s existence a few weeks ago, but it was just what I needed. We don’t see many Percy & Grover moments without Annabeth as the multiple series goes on, so this was chaotic and enjoyable. Having read this after “The Trials of Apollo” series, it’s interesting to see just how much Apollo as a character is destined to change eventually (in my opinion for the better!). Here, he is reflective of the god we know in “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” and is therefore very self-absorbed. I don’t think this is Rick’s strongest short story, but it’s enjoyable and nostalgic nevertheless, like coming home after a long time away.
