I’m sure I read this book as a child, but reading it back now, I get the visual appeal, but the story itself is lacking. There are important lessons in sharing, but by the end, the rainbow fish has given so much of himself away that he has now conformed to be like everybody else and that is the only way he’s able to be happy. I’m glad that there are other books that will teach your children that it is okay to be different and to embrace those differences, because this certainly wasn’t it.
