Thank you to The Nerd Fam for the gifted eARC! ——— Fans of Greek mythology, deadly competitions, and strong female protagonists will like this book. It has a very interesting premise, but its pacing and multi-POV structure made it kind of hard to follow for me. I think it would’ve excelled more with just 3 POVs instead of the 6 we are given: our FMC, our MMC, and Hercules. It does a great job of bringing to light what an absolutely disgusting guy Hercules is though. My favorite aspects about this book are the tournament and the book’s unique setup for Olympus. The world is divided into a series of land and sky island domains, all named after zodiac constellations, with one of the 12 Olympians ruling over each. That’s cool! I don’t think this book is properly marketed. Two of its biggest tropes are fake dating and enemies to lovers, and this is not really an enemies to lovers story. It’s “frustrated with”-to-lovers at best. And its pacing and multi-POVs indicate early on that not a lot of our questions will be answered in book one. It does a decent job setting things up, but there’s not a lot of payoff. Overall, it still scratched that mythology-obsessed itch of mine. A decent book.
