Alucard Emery is a very intriguing character for me, so I enjoyed this short-but-angsty story centered around the “lost years” with Rhy. Though “A Conjuring of Light” gives us a bit of information about what transpired that night, this account is harsh, honest, and leaves the reader sympathetic towards a man who tried, but it wasn’t enough. I didn’t think this story was as well-written as her larger works, but it was a nice re-entry into the world of Red London.
