This book gave me a lot of icks: — First half of the book Dylan, though latter half wasn’t much better. — Every “pity me,” pick-me statement in this book. These boys are trying so hard to be the victim and BOTH of them are in the wrong. — The stereotypical nature of the “theater gay” and “Harry Potter-obsessed” characters respectively. (Like did we really need almost three pages of a play-by-play of them listening to the Hamilton soundtrack?) — The sheer amount of distrust, miscommunication, and NO communication between boys who believe the “universe” brought them together. — Arthur’s overreaction to everything. (Especially the Broadway Incident, Ben constantly being late, and getting upset when Ben brought out The Sims in spite of insisting he didn’t care if they didn’t have sex or not. It has been TWO WEEKS.) (Honorable mention: Arthur’s reaction to the “Very Serious Complicated Discussion” with Jessie and Ethan. Fuck off dude, not everything’s about you.) It felt like they were trying to force a connection that just really didn’t feel there or genuine. I have no interest in reading the sequel.
