I'm so glad I continued with the series because book 2 is even better than book 1 imo! Shadowshine 😂 is an amazing couples name and they're the best! Seriously the chemistry just kept building until it finally exploded in a super satisfying way. I was racing through chapters like they were on fire! I really loved getting more of Mera's story and finally figuring out what she is! The reveal was perfect! Mera's connection with Angel blossomed even more in this book and I loved Angel being this otherworldly being using human sayings and getting them mixed up. She's probably my favorite character! The fourth wall breaks weren't nearly as bad as book 1 but they were still present here and pulled me out of the story again. Not enough to ruin the experience, but enought that I noticed. And then that freaking ending!!! What a cliffhanger and I'm both so invested and tormented in what's to come next. Overall, this was a strong follow-up that deepened the world, strengthened the relationships, and left me desperate for the next book.
