It actually hurts that I’ve had to give this 3 stars, after having such a good time with the rest of the books in the series, but the FMC became so selfish and annoying in this one. Her internal monologue was so repetitive and we had to live it at least once per chapter. Her behaviour really took away from how great the plot was in this one too, there were so many tension filled moments that had me sat on the edge of my seat, but they would be ruined by her going on a rampage or getting whiny. The side characters really helped me get through the book, Orion was hilarious and I loved how devoted he became to the group he’d sworn he was only with for his own gains. Alistair was another great side character, after the first book, I could have never imagined loving him as much as I came to, but his arc was amazing and he developed into a great character. It’s a shame that he was sidelined for most of the book though. If we could have just removed Serena’s bad attitude, this could have easily been 5 stars.
