Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
John Tiffany, Jack Thorne, J.K. Rowling
Being Harry Potter has never been easy. And it isn’t much easier now, as we catch up with him nineteen years after the Battle of Hogwarts.
These days, Harry is a husband, father of three school-age children, and an overworked employee at the Ministry of Magic.
While he struggles with a personal history that refuses to stay in the past, his youngest son Albus must grapple with the weight of the family legacy he never asked for.
As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage.
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, the play was scripted by Jack and directed by John.
It received its world premiere in London’s West End on 30 July 2016.

The characters didn't follow the growth that occurred over the 7 original books. For example Harry saying that he was disappointed in Albus for being in Slytherin when at the end of Deathly Hallows he said that he (Albus) was named after two great wizards and one of them was a Slytherin. This didn't seem plausible to me in any way shape or form. The way that is read is like a fanfiction written by a 12-year-old (no offence to 12-year-olds). The only way for this to make much sense is for people to watch the actual play and for people like myself who can't afford to go and see the production it is really disappointing. The only thing that I actually liked about this was the that Albus was sorted into Slytherin because I feel that it is good to show that people from any family can go into any house no matter what the stereotypes are.

Another Harry Potter story just brings back those fluttery feeling of love that conquers all. Love in all its various glory is the greatest power everyone of us possess. But it can also be our greatest weakness if we aren't careful. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child teaches us how blinding love can be harmful yet it is the same love that can save us from a world darker than our own. I hope we get a novel version of this but to see it live would be better. Thank you, JK Rowling and Jack Thorne for bringing Harry Potter back. This may be the end of his story, but the magic lives.
