4.5 ⭐ It took me a little while to get into this book, but once I was in, I was all in. From the very first page, I got strong Bloodborne vibes. The world is incredibly gothic, dark, and atmospheric, and I absolutely loved it. Al-Wasity creates a setting that feels immersive from the start, pulling you into its bleak, haunting world. What took me a little longer was the plot. For a while, I couldn't quite see where it was heading, and I felt a little lost, unsure if I was enjoying the ride. I do think that's intentional on the author's part, it adds to the mystery but it meant it took me longer to fully connect with the story. Then, at around the 40% mark, everything clicked. From that point on, all I could see was mastery at work. Al-Wasity achieved what I think every author hopes for: the dreaded "just one more chapter" curse we tell ourselves at 2am. I genuinely couldn't stop reading. The characters are beautifully flawed, human, and raw, and the chemistry between the two main characters is compelling from their very first meeting. Combined with the wonderfully gothic world, I was completely hooked. The story went somewhere I never expected, and I loved every minute of it. It was such an incredible ride, and I genuinely can't wait to see what Al-Wasity writes next.
