Intricate World-Building and Compelling Characters House of Bane and Blood is an exciting mix of steampunk fantasy and romance, set in a richly detailed world that pulls you in from the start. The world-building is extensive, and the post-industrial setting with its magical elements really stands out. The characters are equally strong, and I loved the growth we see in both Nico and Milla. Their relationship develops beautifully, with Nico showing care for Milla from the beginning, making their rivals-to-lovers dynamic all the more touching. Milla is a powerful protagonist, but her mysterious past adds layers to her story that kept me intrigued. The plot is complex, and while I occasionally found it hard to connect all the pieces, it definitely keeps you guessing and on edge. Overall, it’s a captivating read for fans of steampunk fantasy with plenty of twists. ★★★★☆
