This cozy paranormal romcom with a side of murder mystery struck the perfect balance imo. I literally lol’d more than once and there were a few tears shed as well! The humor is a mix of witty and corny but it worked for me. Alaric and Winnie’s fake dating/fake fiance arrangement with their grumpy x sunshine selves was seriously hot and steamy even if it was in a chilly old castle. The characters in The Nevermore Murder Club and the Smutty Book Coven were such a joy to spend time with and I loved how welcoming they were with Winnie into their book/murder mystery club. As secondary characters they added so much flare and fun and I found myself invested in their antics just as much as the main plot. I was particularly glad to find out that Mina's story with her three husbands was part of a separate series focused on the book/murder mystery club, which is now on my TBR! While humorous, this book isn’t all jokes and sparks. I appreciated how it handled a serious thread like hoarding and its impact on loved ones. It felt like it was written by someone with real experience. Overall a wonderful cozy read and I'm looking forward to book 2 and the connected series!
