  3.75 stars honestly I don't even know where to begin with this review. I remember reading this book in high school and devouring it loving it to pieces and now that I read it again I honestly have no idea where it came from. There's so many aspects of this book that are just completely psycho. Let's start with the fact that the mother is completely insane and is no help during this apocalypse except she manages to always be ten steps ahead of Penryn and is always at the next location leaving signs shes been their before penryn even gets there. I hate hate hate the way that she finds her sister all stitched up like a freaking puppet I think that is so morbid and I get that it's it follows the storyline with the low demons or whatever they're called but that is not the way I was expecting her to find her sister. The Romantic aspect between Penryn and Raffe is so hypocritical I don't even want to like it. He goes on and on throughout the entire book talking about how Angels can't love Daughters of man and it's against the rules he can't love her and then whenever they have a moment he's basically like yeah I don't have any feelings for you you mean nothing to me but then when she's dying like oh you know now it's okay for me to express my feelings. I strongly despise the confrontation between Penryn and Obi's army guy him basically saying that he's going to rape her and insinuating that he has control over her and that's how things are going to be in the apocalypse and I just don't feel like that's okay at all regardless of if we're at the end of the world or not rape should never be okay. Despite all of this Upon finishing the book all I wanted to do was get the second book and start reading it like it's addicting. Hence why the 3.75 Stars not enough to be a four but also a little more than 3.5 if that makes sense
