“Immortality has turned us all into cartoons.” Something so fascinating about the dystopian genre is that many of these concepts introduced are NOT that far-fetched. There is something truly fascinating, yet horrific about this world-building: the politics of it, the inner turmoil our characters face, the idea of “splatters” as nothing more than thrill-seekers, the sickening sense of adoration the Everyday Citizen has for these bringers of death… This is nothing if not a very thought-provoking and engaging read. I can’t wait to continue this series now and I’m ashamed it’s taken me so long to get to them.
