4.75 ⭐ This started a bit slow & drawn out for me with all the time changes in the past, and it left me wanting more interactions between the couple. However, once it went to the present day, wow! I really became immersed in their story. There are some good twists & turns in this book. I felt bad for Gianna for what she went through in the past and with her first husband. Also, once Christian backstory is revealed, it is sad and disturbing, but Gianna's reaction to him telling her was exactly what he needed. The first book teased that something more was going on between Gianna & Christian. Both characters turned out to be very different from what I had thought, based on what I read about them in the previous book. The MCs were very unique, and their characters were well developed, and you felt their emotional connection to each other. This was a slow burn, and I could see them slowly realize they wanted more from each other, and could see them falling in love. It was interesting that it took her so long to realize how obsessed he was with her. I loved how he refused to force her to marry him because she would have felt betrayed and didn't want her to hate him (but that didn't stop him from tricking her into a real relationship in the guise of just a casual sexual one). Gianna & Christian's love story was truly special. “You blushed for him,” he growled. “You really shouldn’t have done that, Gianna. You have no idea what you’ve just unleashed.”

Christian and Gianna’s story is not your typical romance—it’s messy, intense, and incredibly emotional. Compared to Nico and Elena’s relationship, this one dives much deeper into obsession, pain, and longing. Their connection simmers and burns, keeping you on edge the entire time. What really stood out to me was Gianna’s character development. We saw glimpses of her in The Sweetest Oblivion, but this book peels back the layers and shows just how complex and strong she truly is. You feel every bit of her struggle and growth. And Christian? He’s a dark mystery—intense, controlled, and quietly possessive. Their banter is sharp, addictive, and full of chemistry. Gianna’s smart mouth is a highlight, and watching Christian fall for her wit as much as her fire was so satisfying. If you like your romance dark, slow-burning, and emotionally gripping, The Maddest Obsession won’t disappoint.
