I really enjoyed this even though it took me ages to get through it. I liked the different personalities and how some of the characters developed over time. I liked how the relationships grew and combined. The ending had been spoilt for me by reading a review of the second book but I still enjoyed the twist. And I didn't see some of it coming. I would definitely recommend this and will be continuing with the series., I just need to find Book 2 in a charity shop 😁

Somehow, I spent 16 hours listening to this book, and I still couldn't tell you what it was really about. The beginning had promise, and the ending was at least somewhat interesting, but everything in between? A total slog. The magic system was confusing, the plot meandered without any real direction, and the characters were incredibly unlikeable; not in a compelling way, but in a way that made me completely not care about any of them. By the time something actually happened in the last 20 percent, I was just annoyed that it took that long to get there. I won’t be continuing the series, and I don’t think I’ll be wondering what happens next either.
