I’m glad that I gave this series a second chance after not really liking book one, the risk was infinitely better due to Jake Connolly. The mmc in this book was so much more likable than the mmc from the first book. Other than me wanting to punch him in the face during the third act he was very loveable and I loved seeing his POV. One thing that did piss me off was the third act breakup. I’m never a big fan of the third act breakup but I especially hate them when they come directly after a moment of vulnerability from one of the mcs. You really couldn’t pick any other time!? That being said I did enjoy this book and will continue on with the series. I like this cute little found family they have in this series. The way that Hollis came to yell at Jake about Brenna at the end was so cute. I’m having the worst luck with third act breakups lately because why am I reading all the books with the stupidest breakups.
