Reminders of Him
A troubled young mother yearns for a shot at redemption in this heartbreaking yet hopeful story from #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover. After serving five years in prison for a tragic mistake, Kenna Rowan returns to the town where it all went wrong, hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter. But the bridges Kenna burned are proving impossible to rebuild.
Everyone in her daughter's life is determined to shut Kenna out, no matter how hard she works to prove herself. The only person who hasn't closed the door on her completely is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few remaining links to Kenna's daughter. But if anyone were to discover how Ledger is slowly becoming an important part of Kenna's life, both would risk losing the trust of everyone important to them.
The two form a connection despite the pressure surrounding them, but as their romance grows, so does the risk. Kenna must find a way to absolve the mistakes of her past in order to build a future out of hope and healing.

"Music still makes me think of Scotty, but thinking of Scotty no longer makes me sad. Now that I've forgiven myself, the reminders of him only make me smile." Wow. Just.. wow. This was my first Colleen Hoover book, and I honestly think it was an amazing start. I loved her writing. It was fantastic. The character development was genuinely fantastic. Kenna, Ledger, and Diem deserve the absolute world! I was genuinely thinking that I'd cry, but I think the ending was just too happy for me to cry. The romance between Kenna and Ledger was phenomenal. I couldn't have asked for anything better. It pulled on my heart strings in just the right ways, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Overall, I give this book the 5/5 stars it deserves, and, if the timing is right, I may read it again someday. Also, I just figured out what the pigeons on the cover mean, and my heart was just shattered. "Is that a fucking pigeon?

It took me a while to get into this book properly, I found the start of it so cringy and there were so many parts of it I just didn’t like because they felt awkward to me, and I don’t think they were meant to be felt that way. Maybe that’s just me. It seemed to get a bit better as it went on, but I personally wouldn’t read it again. I will try more of her books, but even so many months after this, my immediate memory is now much I cringed whilst reading it.
