3.5 - 4 ⭐️ Beauty and the beast retelling but make it adult and rh, and I absolutely ate it up. Beauty and the beast was one of my absolute favourite movies as a kid and this is a pretty true retelling, the beginning of the book follows the exact plot of beauty and the beast so if you want a looser interpretation in your retellings this one isn’t for you. I had so much fun with this book tho and loved getting to know all of the characters. Most of them did piss me off a lot of the time but I love them all regardless. I’m excited to continue on with this series and see how it starts to evolve more into its own story.

I went into this with high expectations because of all the glowing reviews, but I didn’t love it as much as I hoped. This Beauty and the Beast retelling is heavily influenced by fae lore, giving off strong ACOTAR vibes. While the concept is interesting, I found the heroine too passive, and I wanted more character development rather than spice. Not many answers are given in this book, and it ends on a cliffhanger. But with so many books in the series, that makes sense. Maybe the next ones will be stronger!
