This was a great collection of sketches, letters, diary entries, poems, essays, and more. The companion novel ties together the intricate literary world of Llyr, introduced in Ava Reid’s “A Study in Drowning” series well. I commend the author’s ability to create individualized writing styles for all of the various snippets of works included here, and all of the time likely used to construct this into the visually stunning book that it is. I think one of my favorite aspects of this book is Preston’s diary entries, as we gain more insight into the early days of his and Effy’s acquaintance and learn what a certified yearner this man is. I also really like the short story we’re given at the end. I enjoyed this a lot.
